IBM San Volume Controller – a gift from god?

Man …

I just spent the last 6 hours migrating 20 boot-from-san machines from HP EVA 5000 to a storageĀ box that resides behind a IBM San Volume Controller (SVC).

With the SVC we are able to move data disks from one storage to another on-the-fly! …Let’s say we need fast disks for this database today …i’ll just do a little magic and suddenly this disk has been migrated to a group of fast SCSI disks ….when i dont need the power anymore i can move it back to slower SATA disks!….Also if we have to do maintainance on the storage box disk A is residing on i can move it to another storage and do my maintainance during daytime :) ….this box is simply amazing :D

Well ….not much other then this going on….I was thinking about buying extra 2Gb of RAM for my Mac Pro to get more RAM for my virtual machines …(Vista does not run very nicely with 512Mb;)…..

It’s time for bed …….laters
