New Motherboard part 2: Still going strong!

YES!…..

After 7 months of random reboots i think the PC i bought pre-built to prevent things like random reboots has stopped giving me shit!…..It is running like a dream after i gave a Gigabyte P35-DS4 a try instead of a FoxxConn board i bought with the computer. The store i bought the computer from was not able to get the PC to “fail” so i did not get a replacement from them.

This is the last pre-built, non HP/Dell/IBM computer i bought …..from now on all the pre-built PC’s i will buy is going to be branded ….they may have some bad apples in between but it is alot easier for me to get them replaced then those part-only PC’s ….however none of the PC’s i built my self have failed on me yet …knock-on-wood….

I will be getting a new laptop next week hopefully….Me and another sysadmin at work cried out a more linux friendly laptops instead of our T60′s…..Not that our T60′s are bad in any way except they have a ATI video card which is known to the linux population as crap-on-a-stick……ATI cards are not playing friendly with linux yet :( …..Hopefully they will get there act together and start building drivers that do not freeze up my laptop when i really need it not freezing ….(HEY! I WAS NOT DONE SAVING THAT TPS REPORT!!!)…..and maby wake correctly up from suspends….

Well….just wanted to give the world some news about my new superleet motherboard….

New motherboard …

Howdy…

Today i went to Tolvutek, a Icelandic store with computer parts and decided to buy a new motherboard. I have been having problems with a computer i bought at Tolvuvirkni late last year and after having them check it out i decided to fire up my debugging skills and after changing everything except the CPU & motherboard and still had random reboot problems (at low cpu usage) i decided to buy a new Gigabyte P35-DS4. I just put it in my rig. I booted to Vista, installed the drivers and updated the BIOS. After that i booted to Fedora 7 and the only thing i had to reconfigure was the soundcard …..man do i love the hardware auto-configuration tools in Fedora :)

Well ….lets hope my problems are gone after this…..
