YESS!
This is just fucking great…..Office Open XML has been reject by the ISO.
Ok ….i want to bring reality to most of the people pursuing OpenDocument as a international standard……Microsoft Office 2007 has OOXML as default format. Microsoft Office has the largest user base of all Office software in the world. OOXML has already won this fight people ….as much as i hate to say it…i am a proud supporter of open source software…but heck …i just want to be able to use OpenOffice to open the documents i have to work with every day. I am so TIRED of having to run a virtual machine just to be able to work with .docx files at work. And please, when you people say that i do not have to use OOXML…WAKE UP!!! I work in a enviroment of 400+ users, 394 of them use Windows XP or Windows Vista. They use Microsoft Office 2007, and other Microsoft products. I have NO saying at all of what document format is used.
I posted a reply to a post at the RGLUG mailing list. I got flaimed for saying that i just wanted to work. I got flaimed for saying i just wanted to do my job. I got flaimed for saying that i wanted to use OOXML. I got flaimed for saying that Microsoft Office 2007 is a good office suite……
This is written from my Fedora 7 laptop i use for work. I use it in a 100% Microsoft environment. I use Firefox to post this. I administer around 150 linux servers. I push linux everywhere i can if it fits the job. Office Open XML FITS THE BLOODY JOB!
I guess i will just have to quit my job and start my own computer company so i can use OpenDocument…..Yes, now that is a GREAT idea right?…..
As most of you that spend any time reading this post can probably realize now, i am pretty tired of this bloody war. It is amazing that people pursue this fight. Sure, Microsoft may be “evil”, but they totally own the office market. 90% of all companies use Windows as a operating system. Almost all students today do not know anything else then Windows or Office.
If you want to fight this war, fight it with your own goverment. Get your own goverment to use all open source software. Then we can start talking…..Then OpenDocument actually might have chance…..but for now, i am really sorry. OOXML did win. It won the fight when Office 2007 came out.
Sorry, but i just had to get this out of my system.
I’m off to write some sweet OOXML for a meeting tomorrow.
